Adoption Process

I know you have many choices in breeders and thank you for considering a Kelton Cavalier as your next family member.  I do not make you fill out lengthy online applications, questionnaires, or put you at the bottom of a long waiting list.
Instead I maintain an Announcement List

I send out 2 announcements to the list:
1)  When we are expecting puppies and ultrasound has confirmed pregnancy, aprox headcount and due date, or failure to conceive.
2) When the puppies are born and have passed their neonatal vet examination.  At that time, I will begin to accept deposits on *available puppies up until they are 10 weeks old and ready to go home.

The process of adopting a Kelton Cavalier puppy begins when you are ready to put down a deposit or make an appointment to come see available puppies.  The primary caretaker of the dog should call me to go over adoption questions in order to place a deposit or make an appointment.  I have 20 questions and it takes me at least 20 minutes to go over them.  Once we have gone through adoption questions, you can put down a deposit or make an appointment to come visit puppies.  Visits start when the puppies are 6 weeks old.

Deposits are $500.00 and accepted on first come, first served basis.  Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable.  Puppies are posted as "Sale Pending"  if I'm waiting for a deposit in the mail, then posted as "Sold" when I receive it.
A deposit is required to hold your puppy until 10 weeks old.  I do not accept deposits before puppies are born or after they are 10 weeks old.              If you want a puppy that is over 10 weeks old but you are not ready to take puppy home, I offer dog boarding at the standard rate for up to two weeks with a non-refundable deposit.  Reservations must be made in advance online.  See Dog Boarding page for further details.

FYI Puppies remain available until I have a deposit to hold them.  Appointments to visit available puppies does not automatically mean the litter is on "Hold" for you until your appointment, please don't assume that.   Always contact me the same day as your appointment to re-confirm that you are still coming AND to verify current puppy availability.  If you have your heart set on a specific puppy, then I recommend putting down a deposit to avoid disappointment should that puppy sell before your appointment.
*When a litter is born, I usually hold back one or two puppies for future breeding / show evaluations.   The puppies I am holding back or, "Running on" will be posted as "Not available"   They may become available later after evaluations.  Older available puppies are sometimes the picks of the litter that I have hung on to.
