Adoption Process

At this time my announcement list is full and closed.  You can still be added to the back-up list for next year 2021 if you live in Southern California.

I know you have many choices in breeders and thank you for considering a Kelton Cavalier as your next family member.  I do not make you fill out lengthy online applications, questionnaires to get on the list.

I maintain an Announcement List.  When puppies are born I go through that list and contact the buyers who I can best accommodate.

I send out 3 announcements to the list:
1)  When a female in heat has been bred.  At that time the list will be closed and all new inquires will be put on a back-up llst
2)  One month later when ultrasound has confirmed pregnancy, aprox headcount and due date, or failure to conceive.
3) When the puppies are born and have passed their neonatal vet examination.  At that time, I will begin to accept deposits.

The process of adopting a Kelton Cavalier puppy begins when you are ready to put down a deposit after puppies are born.  The primary caretaker of the dog must call me to go over adoption questions in order to place a deposit.  I have 20 questions and it takes me at least 20 minutes to go over them.  Once we have gone through adoption questions, you can put down a deposit or make an appointment to come visit puppies.  Visits start when the puppies are 6 weeks old.

Deposits are $500.00.  Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable.  For deposits, I accept Paypal, Zelle, personal check or payments can be sent through Good Dog platform for your peace of mind.    Additional fees are applied by Good Dog to insure and protect your payment.  Cash only on pick-up day.
Puppies are posted as "Sale Pending"  if I'm waiting for a deposit in the mail, then posted as "Sold" when I receive it.
A deposit is required to hold your puppy until 10 weeks old.  I do not accept deposits before puppies are born or after they are 10 weeks old.              If you want a puppy that is over 10 weeks old but you are not ready to take puppy home, I offer dog boarding at the standard rate for up to two weeks with a non-refundable deposit.  Reservations must be made in advance.  See Dog Boarding page for further details.
*When a litter is born, I usually hold back one or two puppies for future breeding / show evaluations.   The puppies I am holding back or, "Running on" will be posted as "Not available"   They may become available later after evaluations.  Older available puppies are sometimes the picks of the litter that I have hung on to.
